Mammoth Cave’s main Historic Entrance is a natural portal welcoming park visitors to a dark and dramatic underground world of stalactites, stalagmites, columns, travertine dams and gypsum flowers. Year-round temperatures inside the cave hover around 54 degrees Fahrenheit. Fog sometimes forms near the entrance when the the cool cavern air mixes with the summer heat.
