This 1.7-million-acre stretch of wilderness borders the Canadian line and two active volcanoes – Glacier Peak and Mount Baker. It has over 1,500 miles of trails, as well as more glaciers than any other U.S. national forest. The forest also protects endangered species like the northern spotted owl and a recovering population of gray wolf packs.
