Merchant Jonathan Nichols Jr. built this Georgian Colonial home in the mid-18th century. It once served as a French Admiral’s headquarters during the Revolutionary War and later housed a U.S. diplomat. It is known for its Townsend-Goddard furniture and colonial pewter, as well as the 13 enslaved people whose stories here play a defining role.
