This spectacular 70-mile stretch of undeveloped barrier island coastline is vital to the protection of the endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtle. Each summer, thousands of people watch hatchlings make their way from nests on the beaches to warm Gulf of Mexico waters. Visitors also enjoy swimming, paddling, camping and surf fishing.
