Construction of Sabine Hill was completed in 1818 by Mary Patton Taylor, the widow of Brigadier Gen. Nathaniel Taylor following his death shortly after the War of 1812. Described by architectural historians as one of the finest examples of wood-framed Federal architecture in Tennessee, this historic house now serves as a museum operated by Sycamore Shoals SHP and the State Historical Commission.
