Planning a trip? Check out Colonial Williamsburg.
Virginia’s colonial legislature began meeting in its Williamsburg Capitol in 1705. Although the building would burn and be rebuilt, Williamsburg was home for 75 years to the evolution of government and the birth of American independence. Rebuilt and restored to its 1705 appearance, visitors can tour a courtroom and the House of Burgesses.
