This museum opened in 1987, its foundation a donation of 1,000 works of Asian art and a financial contribution by a New York psychiatrist. Today part of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art, the gallery displays one of the world’s premier collections of ancient and more contemporary art, including Chinese jades and bronzes.
