One of the largest man-made structures in the world, this almost mile-long concrete colossus on the Columbia River towers 550 feet high. Its Lake Roosevelt reservoir is a popular boating, paddling, fishing and swimming destination. Visitor center exhibits explain hydroelectricity, irrigation, the dam’s construction and its imapcts. Many stay late to view the laser light show held nightly in the summer.
