Carizo Plain offers a rare glimpse into one of California’s last remaining protected grasslands. Surrounded by mountains and the San Andreas Fault, ‘California’s Serengeti’ hosts an abundance of native plant and animal species. It is also the site of one of the largest Indigenous pictograph displays in the West. Dependent on rainfall, spring offers a fantastic rainbow display of wildflowers.
