Named after a resident lizard that foils predators by wedging itself in rock crevices, this sprawling site at the junction of three deserts protects Native American homelands and antiquities. Visitors to landscapes where soldiers trained for World War II combat admire ancient rock art, hike in scenic canyons, take off-highway vehicle tours, camp, stargaze and spot desert bighorn sheep.
