Erosion is a perpetual force on Thor’s Hammer, Bryce Canyon’s most famous hoodoo formation. The softer rock below the much harder hammerhead eventually will collapse and Thor’s Hammer will plunge to earth in spectacular fashion. Often likened to totem poles, hoodoos protrude skyward from the floors of arid desert basins in the American Southwest.
