Sitting in the lower canyon of the Garden of Enlightenment, the cast stands an impressive 12 feet and weighs 5,750 lbs. The sculptor, Takumi Obata, was an accomplished Japanese ironsmith during the Tokugawa period (1602–1868), known for works such as the lanterns of the Tokugawa Shogunate mausoleums and the bronze bell of Chosho-ji Temple.
