Planning a trip? Check out the Montaña de Oro State Park website.
Among the largest state parks in California, it spans over 8,000 acres of wild beauty and seven miles of shoreline. Once used for cattle grazing, this park now protects diverse coastal ecosystems. It is marked by windswept cliffs, secluded coves, eucalyptus groves, and seaside trails. The park’s name, meaning “Mountain of Gold,” refers to the poppies that colorfully bloom each spring.
