This laid-back and rustic town in Northern California’s Sonoma Valley is known for winemaking, farm-to-table cuisine, and a bustling hospitality industry. Its early history as a Spanish mission and Mexican military station is honored at several historic sites, including the Sonoma State Historic Park and eight-acre Sonoma Plaza, laid out in 1835 by the city’s founder, Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo.
