Accessible to visitors during ranger-led tours, Mesa Verde’s Cliff Palace is the largest cliff dwelling in North America. About 100 people lived in the 150-room community. The ancient structures that served the residential and ceremonial needs of their residents were constructed of wooden beams and sandstone blocks chinked with mortar and small stones.
