This is the largest, deepest ocean on Earth. It covers over 63 million square miles, with a maximum depth of 36,161 feet. It holds over half of the planet’s ocean water and borders 41 countries. It’s also home to the Ring of Fire, the most volcanically active zone in the world, responsible for 75% of active volcanoes. It was named by Ferdinand Magellan in 1520 for its believed calmness – Mar Pacífico.
