Located near many of the capital’s distiguished and poignant memorials, this 19-foot-tall statue of the Great Emancipator gazes out upon the reflecting pool on the National Mall. The must-see monument took on additional meaning in 1963 when Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous “I Have A Dream” speech on the memorial’s steps.
