It seems impossible that snow falls on peaks surrounded by arid red rock desert. In fact, early Spanish explorers assumed it must be salt (sal). Above treeline, Burro Pass marks the high point of one of the world’s great mountain biking trails, the Whole Enchilada, which in 34 miles decends 8,000 feet to the Colorado River and Moab.
