The sweeping views from its 14,115-foot summit inspired Katharine Lee Bates to write the song “America the Beautiful” in 1893. Unlike most Colorado 14ers, America’s Mountain is accessible by car, rail and foot. The scenic drive, cog railroad and 13-mile Barr Trail all deliver visitors to the top of the peak where snow can fall any time of year.
