This 140,000-acre refuge on Florida's east coast surrounds Kennedy Space Center. Created in partnership with NASA, the area buffers launch facilities while also preserving critical habitat. Its marshes, lagoons, scrub, and dunes support more than 1,000 plant types, over 330 bird species, and federally listed animals like West Indian manatees.
