At 230,000 acres, this refuge is New Mexico’s largest. Managed as near to its natural state as possible, the refuge welcomes researchers from across the U.S. who explore important ecological questions. Sevilleta provides habitat for thousands of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and plants, including the endangered Bolson tortoise, Rio Grande silvery minnow, and Southwestern willow flycatcher.
