North of Atlanta, forty-eight miles of the Chattahoochee River are protected for recreational purposes. In 2012, the Chattahoochee was the first river named a National Water Trail. Visitors can hike, bike, raft and fish within park boundaries. Surrounding wetlands support a contiguous healthy ecosystem abundant in local fish and wildlife.
