Confederate troops temporarily stalled the Union advance on Atlanta at this site in the summer of 1864. About 4,000 soldiers became casualties. A self-guided road tour leads to battlefield points of interest. Visitors also enjoy the views from atop Kennesaw Mountain, living history demonstrations, hiking and bird watching.
