Standing guard at the mouth of the Savannah River, it was first lit in 1736 and has been rebuilt multiple times. This is one of the oldest and tallest lighthouses in the U.S. Its current 144-foot structure, featuring black-and-white daymark bands, dates to 1867. Nearby, restored keeper’s cottages display maritime artifacts and Civil War history.
