One of San Francisco’s more beloved historic structures was built to honor the arts during the 1915 Panama- Pacific Exposition celebrating the opening of the Panama Canal. Today’s visitors admire the domed structure’s Romanesque architecture, attend films and performances in the Palace’s theater and relax on the grounds.
