Magnolia and Oakland Plantations are preserved within rural Natchitoches Parish near the Cane River. On over 60 acres, 67 historic buildings remain alongside these Creole plantations that oversaw 200 years of slavery, war, and converging cultures. The main house built of bousillage on Oakland Plantation is among the surviving structures.
