As a nurse, teacher, and founder of the American Red Cross, Clara Barton dedicated her life to the service of others. Tours of her home in Glen Echo, site of early Red Cross headquarters, are available. The Park represents the first in the United States to have been dedicated to the activism, achievements, and philanthropy of a woman.
