The Nimiipuu, or Nez Perce people, inhabited the land of the northwest for centuries. Comprising of 38 individual sites, the park preserves the history, culture, and spirituality of the Nez Perce. Much of the park is dedicated to the Nez Perce War associated with the resistence of Chief Joseph and his band’s refusal to be placed on reservation land.
