A dome, supported by 24 columns, and adorned in a bronze-painted plaster frieze, corbel statues, and a 9,000-piece stained-glass cupola is central to the Greek cross design of the Land of Lincoln Capitol. The State Legislature met in this building for the first time in 1887 and today this National Register of Historic Places designee hosts the executive and legislative branch within its four wings.
