Dwight D. Eisenhower, Abilene has been named one of the “Best Small Towns to Visit.” In the late 1860s, railroads and cattle stockyards turned this “small dead place” into the “wildest and woolliest” town in the west. Today, visitors tour historic sites, watch Old Town reenactments, visit the Greyhound Hall of Fame and behold the largest belt buckle.
