Located in a historic community’s downtown, Fort Scott was a frontier outpost when it was established in 1842. Eleven buildings, including barracks that housed the soldiers, are open to visitors, who take self-guided and staff-led tours. Exhibits detail the roles the fort played in the Kansas-Missouri border’s often turbulent past.
