Rising 748 feet from the northeast corner of the park is Cinder Cone, a relatively young volcano composed of scoria. Intrepid hikers may scale the cone via a steep trail that flanks the volcano. Those who do are rewarded with unforgettable views of the Fantastic Lava Beds, Snag Lake, Painted Dunes, Lassen Peak, and an opportunity to descend into the caldera.
