It's called the Precipice (cliff) Trail with good reason. The route up Champlain Mountain rises about 1,000 feet in under a mile. The ascent is one of Acadia's premier hiking experiences, challenging the fit and the fearless, who are assisted by iron rungs, handrails and ladders. The views along the way and up top are breathtaking.
