Surf crashes against the rugged shoreline along the entire Maine Coast, but Thunder Hole puts on a drama unlike any other. Waves smash into a rock crevice, forcing the water upward like a geyser as high as 40 feet and making a thunderous roar. The spectacle is best viewed from a platform requiring the descent of two staircases.
