A meeting hall for Puritan sermons and public meetings endures today as a forum for intellectual thought and expression. Built in 1729, Old South is most famous for the platform it provided for protest and debate against British rule. On December 6, 1773, over 5,000 men gathered in failed negotiations that ended in the Boston Tea Party.
