Established in 1909 and 1938, respectively, the Huron-Manistee National Forests were administratively combined in 1945. Together they stretch nearly one million acres across the northern half of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Trails and campgrounds along four nationally designated Wild and Scenic Rivers invite year-round recreation.
