On June 26, 1966, 15,000 marchers ended the over 200-mile March Against Fear at this National Historic Landmark. A Capitol Rally marker commemorates the state’s largest civil rights march and its inclusion on the Mississippi Freedom Trail. Designed in a Beaux-Arts style out of limestone, granite, and over 10 kinds of marble, this structure houses the legislature and executive branch.
