Carved from 400-million-year-old limestone, this cavern system in the Ozarks stretches almost 5 miles and features rarities like the 6-foot-tall aragonite “Wine Table.” Opened to the public in 1935, its promoters claimed to have invented the bumper sticker to draw tourists. Guides trace its history from Indigenous use through operation in the Civil War. In outlaw lore, it is even tied to Jesse James.
