Planning a trip? Check out the Angel Island Immigration Station website.
This Immigration Station on an island in San Francisco Bay processed about 500,000 immigrants between 1910 and 1940. Its remote location made it ideal to reduce any threat of disease spread. Restored immigration barracks, guided tours, and exhibits depict the arduous experience of immigrants from over 80 nations, China chief among them.
