Rising sharply out from the surrounding prairie, this park in Manitoba encompasses mixed forests, rolling hills, and freshwater lakes, creating a diverse ecosystem rarely seen in the region. Established in 1933, its name comes from it having been historically explored on horseback. Its broad network of trails and waterways now serves as a refuge for a free-roaming bison herd, as well as elk and wolves.
