Eleanor Roosevelt built her Val-Kill home in Hyde Park in 1925. The property served as her home until 1962, but also housed a furniture factory, apartments, and multi-purpose shop. The “First Lady of the World” and Franklin Delano Roosevelt used the home near the Hudson River as a retreat and to host foreign dignitaries and guests.
