A Lower Manhattan Greek Revival building houses a memorial to the country’s first President. Completed in 1842 and used as a Customs House and Treasury building, the site’s original structure served as the meeting place for the Continental Congress, First Congress, and George Washington’s swearing-in ceremony on April 30, 1789.
