This Art Deco theater opened at Rockefeller Center in 1932, wrapping its iconic marquee around Sixth Avenue for the first time. With 5,960 seats, it was built for movie- and-stage shows. The Rockettes debuted here the year it opened which helped define its identity. The Great Stage fulfills New York’s promise of lights, attention, and curtain call applause, nicknamed “The Showplace of the Nation.”
