The 1880 Republican Presidential nominee ran a front porch campaign delivering speeches from this Mentor home, earning it the nickname Lawnfield. Upon his assassination, his widow, Lucretia, sought to protect the legacy of the 19th President. The estate and restored floors of the home, including the Memorial Library, are open for public tours.
