This iconic 18-foot-tall statue depicting a weary Native American and his horse was created by French-trained sculptor James Earl Fraser, who spent much of his childhood on the American frontier. Modeled after Chief John Big Tree of the Seneca Tribe, the figure evokes both the suffering and the strength of people displaced from their native land.
