Completed in 1917, the Sooner State’s Capitol did not have a dome atop its square rotunda until nearly a century later. Today the Guardian, a 22-foot bronze sculpture, overlooks the Capitol Complex’s 100 acres and working oil wells from its position above the 155-foot dome. This National Record of Historic Places designee hosts the executive and legislative branch offices.
