Straddling the Arctic Circle, this 7,370-square-mile Baffin Island wilderness is Canada’s fifth-largest national park. Glaciers and permanent ice cover 40% of the land. Paleo- Inuit, Dorset, and later Thule Inuit cultures have inhabited the region over a 3,500-year span. Its flat-topped Mount Asgard gained worldwide fame after a dramatic ski stunt appeared in the 1977 Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me.
