This water-rich wilderness lies within the province’s largest watershed. It protects an Acadian Forest of old-growth hemlocks, 46 lakes and ponds, 30 rivers and streams,
and a separate Atlantic coastal tract. Around 4,000 years of Mi’kmaw presence are recorded here, with over 500 lakeshore petroglyphs. Even its night skies are protected.
