This vast Northwest Territories wilderness protects alpine peaks, hot springs, and the Nahanni River. The river drops 315 feet at Virginia Falls before cutting through canyons. Here, mineral springs build Canada’s largest tufa mounds, while the Nahanni aster is found nowhere else on Earth. The Dene have used this land for millennia, and UNESCO includes it among the earliest natural World Heritage sites.
