This 1927 Saskatchewan park spans the hinge between prairie grassland and the wetlands of boreal forest. It contains western Canada’s largest protected area of southern boreal mixed-wood forest. The Sturgeon River plains bison herd roams here with wolves on their heels, while Grey Owl’s 1931 log cabin still stands on Ajawaan Lake as a touchstone of early Canadian conservation.
